Time for a change

I love fashion but the industry needs to change and right now.

It is currently menswear fashion week in Milan. I was eager to see what the Italian designers had created this year. It is always exiting to see new collections. Friday we had the amazing DSQUARED2 show. Not only was the collection out of this world, from the ski heels to the hockey pants, but the casting was extraordinary. Hudson Williams opening and my personal favorite, THE Yasmin Wijnaldum closed the show with her signature walk. Jaws were on the floor. Can it get better? Possibly. Can it get worse? Obviously. The D*lce and G*bbana show…(inspiration from @lyas : go follow him, he is possibly the best thing in the industry right now)

I wish I could say I was surprised but I am not. This brand and these designers are NOTHING but problematic. They are genuinely horrible. For those of you who are not familiar with their long list of issues: D*lce and G*abbana is a brand owned by racist, homophobic and misogynistic men. They have caused scandal after scandal. Their show was Saturday and it is supposedly “the portrait of man”… Funny enough there is only one type of man showcased and it’s a white one. I have one word: ew. No but really. 1944 called and they want their white supremacy back. Like I stated earlier I am not surprised by their behaviour. They are racist. But really? In 2026? There is nothing that I hate more.

Fashion is supposed to be about inclusivity. To me, fashion is about showing the face of everyone, no matter their gender, race or sexuality. On a runway, I want to see diversity because the world is not just one type of person. It’s multiple and that is what makes it beautiful. That is cool. What is not cool is having a show with ONLY white models.

That brand needs to go. Not only should they be boycotted but they should stop having a place during fashion weeks. I promise, there is better than them.

Thank you for reading. Never forget: you are sublime, no matter your race, gender or sexuality.
